Abstract
A new cAMP-independent protein kinase activity induced in HeLa (human cervical cancer) cells by infection with herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) was isolated. Induction of the enzyme does not occur in cells treated with cycloheximide at the time of infection or in cells infected with UV-inactivated HSV-1. The amount of enzyme induced in infected cells is dependent upon the multiplicity of infection. An enzyme with identical properties to that appearing in infected HeLa cells is also induced by HSV-1 in BHK (baby hamster kidney) cells. This publication has 31 references indexed in Scilit:
