Abstract
To the Editor: A report of radiation-associated myeloma among nuclear workers at Hanford, Washington,* prompted the following unblinded study of 89 cases of myeloma in Massachusetts. We wished to determine whether radiation exposure or any other factors are associated with myeloma. We telephoned 44 men and 45 women and obtained complete occupational and exposure histories. A control group of 120 men and 108 women, all without cancer, was obtained from the following persons by personal interview: 81 men in a Veterans Administration clinic and 39 men and 108 women in housing for the elderly and in suburban shopping malls.Of . . .Keywords
