Abstract
The authors present collision strengths calculated using the R-matrix method for transitions between the lowest eight LS states of S V. Particularly for spin forbidden transitions at low electron impact energies, the cross sections are dominated by resonances. Collision rates have been calculated assuming a Maxwellian electron distribution and are consistent with those implied by observations of S V emission line strengths in the solar spectrum. Keywords
