Estimating Seasonal and Short-Term Fluctuations in Evapo-Transpiration from Meadow Crops

Abstract
An attempt has been made to devise a rational procedure for estimating actual evapo-transpiration from meadow crops using readily accessible meteorological data. This has been accomplished by utilizing recorded data from lysimeters at the USDA Soil and Water Conservation Research Station near Coshocton, Ohio. First a revised curve for potential evapo-transpiration was drawn and finally two corrections were developed by means of which allowance can be made for the level of soil dryness and the stage of crop development. This procedure can be used to keep a running account of seasonal changes in plant-available moisture by balancing losses against current rainfall.
