Pruritus and Acquired Anhidrosis

Abstract
Two unusual cases of acquired anhidrosis with the chief complaint of pruritus were presented and discussed. One patient had associated cholinergic urticaria. The other was unique in its complete reversibility. Known causes of anhidrosis were reviewed. Acquired anhidrosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of generalized pruritus, especially when careful patient questioning reveals a history suggestive of heat intolerance.
