Abstract
The method of venom collection referred to here is illustrated and described briefly on page 68. It was designed for bulk collection, and yields a gram of dried venom in five minutes' ‘milking’ of each, of 20 hives. It is in principle similar to the delicate method described by D. J. Palmer in Bee World in 1961. But its high yields themselves introduce complications, because of the large amounts of ‘alarm odour’ released at the same time as the venom. These complications are discussed here. Keywords
