Abstract
A statewide survey of Virginia's 73 colleges and universities was initiated to ascertain how factors such as financial resources, administrative support, cost, and community interest and support might influence the development of programs for older learners. Results indicated that general demand and administrative support were most positively related to growth while inadequate financial resources and cost of the program to participants were viewed most negatively. In addition, community awareness and support factors most clearly differentiated those that do vs. do not have programs. Implications of these findings for future program development are also discussed.
