A Peer Educator Approach to Nutrition for the Elderly

Abstract
A nutrition education program for the elderly was conducted in which 22 older adults were recruited and trained as peer educators. Their role was to create interest in nutritionamong their peers and serve as liaisons between peers and sound sources of nutrition information and expertise. Peer educators conducted 95 sessions and returned evaluations completed by 933 participants. Participants reported that sessions were well organized and interesting and provided information useful in their daily lives.
