Abstract
An experiment for absorption spectroscopy of highly ionized species in the XUV is described. Two plasma prosuced by laser beams act one as a background continuum source and another as the absorbing medium. The performance of the laser produced plasma as a continuum source was optimized and the output absolutely measured. Similarly the absorbing plasma was studied for minimizing spurious broadening mechanisms. An example of absorption spectra of Be II and Be III is shown. Keywords
