Abstract
The cytopathic effect of infectious laryngotracheitis virus in chicken embryo kidney tissue culture cells was characterized by a) degeneration, necrosis and detachment of cells, b) formation of giant cells, some of which contained 80 to 100 nuclei, and c) appearance of nuclear inclusion bodies. In the early stages of formation, the inclusions contained deoxyribonucleic acid as demonstrated by the Feulgen reaction and the acridine orange technic. Keywords
