Abstract
Tumours of fibrous tissue origin are typically composed of a mixture of fibroblasts and their biosynthetic product, collagen. The group includes a range of pathological conditions from the fibromatoses to malignant fibrosarcomas. Most show a greater or lesser propensity for focal infiltration and, if incompletely resected, will recur. Metastases rarely occur, however, even from fibrosarcomas. The classification of these tumours has undergone little modification since it was originally documented by Stout in 1951 and 1954 [1,2].Keywords
