Intracoronary Streptokinase in Evolving Infarction

Abstract
Pinpointing the cause of myocardial ischemia—thrombus, spasm, or hemorrhage of an atherosclerotic plaque—can help determine appropriate management in selected infarct victims. The authors' clinical trials have indicated that when thrombus is involved, clot lysis can effectively restore blood flow to the ischemic myocardium. Protocols for patient selection and thrombolytic regimens are outlined.
