Atlantoaxial Dislocation in Down's Syndrome

Abstract
An increased atlantoodontoid interval is frequently observed in asymptomatic patients with Down's syndrome (mongolism) and severe neurologic complications can occur. Symptomatic atlantoaxial dislocations developed in two such patients. Conditions in both patients were relieved by surgical stabilization of the first and second cervical vertebrae.
