Abstract
The internal friction of annealed polycrystalline copper has been measured as a function of strain amplitude in the temperature range 20° to 300°K. Both the amplitude-dependent and the amplitude-independent contributions to the decrement increase with increasing temperature over the whole range. Current theories are inadequate to account for the observed dependence of the friction on both strain amplitude and temperature.Keywords
