Abstract
Patterns of concomitant support to elderly blacks from family, friends, and church members were examined using the National Survey of Black Americans. Eight out of ten respondents reported receiving assistance from friends, six out of ten received aid from church members, and over half received support from family. Few respondents were “socially isolated” (did not have a best or close friend and did not receive support from their family or church members). Keywords
