Abstract
The past of simulation languages resembles any other history of a subject. For those interested in computers, it presents an absorbing story with moments of outstanding achievement. When Shakespeare said: "The Past is the Prologue" he preceded the age of the computer, but he recognized that, regardless of the field, the history, the habits and the education of those engaged in any enterprise shape the way the future will be. Accepting this hypothesis, it then behooves us to look to the past if we are to see what the future holds in digital discrete simulation. Keywords
