Abstract
The discharge and storage characteristics of a new solid‐state battery system, , , Pb were investigated. Results of the discharge tests suggested that both and are cathode active and can be discharged efficiently. A discharge efficiency of 100% was realized on test cells with a stoichiometric capacity of 18 mA‐hr/cm2 at a drain rate of 10 μA/cm2at room temperature. Results of the storage tests showed that the system is stable on storage. Test cells experienced no capacity loss after a storage period of one year at room temperature, 45°, and 60°C. The discharge and storage characteristics indicate that the system is a practical, low rate solid‐state battery system and the practical batteries have a volumetric energy density of 8 W‐hr/in.3 (0.49 W‐hr/cm3) at a power level of 150 μW/in3.Keywords
