Abstract
In connection with the tuberculostatic and pharmacological properties of 4‐hydroxy‐6‐amino‐isophthalic acid (4‐hydroxy‐6‐aminobenzene‐1,3‐dicarboxylic acid) a synthesis with 4,6‐dinitro‐m‐xylene (1,3‐dimethyl‐4,6‐dinitrobenzene) as starting material is described. Other alternate routes are discussed.A convenient procedure for preparing 4,6‐dinitro‐m‐xylene from technical grade xylene is given. Keywords
