Abstract
Measurements are reported for the Cs () intervals by a microwave resonance technique. From the centers of gravity of the intervals and previous measurements, values for the effective dipole and quadrupole polarizabilities are determined. The observed inverted fine-structure intervals of the states are consistent with earlier measurements, and the fine-structure intervals are no larger than hydrogenic in magnitude.
