Abstract
Stacking faults on basal and prismatic {110} planes in vapour-grown zinc oxide ribbon crystals have been studied by transmission electron microscopy. Basal faults are shown to have the fault vector of ½c + p, whereas diffraction contrast experiments indicate that the ½c + 3/2p fault vector normally associated with prismatic faults in the wurtzite structure is not a possible fault vector in this material. Atomistic considerations suggest a fault vector ½c + (1/√3)a.Keywords
