Rapid Separation of Technetium from Fission Products

Abstract
Summary: The solvent extraction of technetium, as pertechnetate ion, with cyclohexanone was studied and proved to be an unusually rapid, efficient, and selective method of separation. This separation was applied in the determination of the number of fissions occurring in a short irradiation of uranium by measurement of 99mTc, and to the separation of 99Tc from long-lived fission products for burnup analysis.
