Abstract
This paper presents an analytic review of many conditions known to induce fluent speech in stutterers, and derives an integral explanation which accounts for the beneficial effect of all of them. This explanation suggests new avenues of approach to basic research in stuttering as well as pointing up the value of reviving areas of exploration initiated, but abandoned, a number of years ago. Keywords
