Abstract
A state of chronic depletion of the serum chloride is described in certain cases of pulmonary tuberculosis, carcinoma of the lung, and cardiac disease. This chloride depletion results from the ability of these subjects to excrete chloride readily in the urine at levels of serum chloride at which urinary excretion of the ion normally virtually ceases. This behavior in these subjects is not associated with recognizable anatomical disease of the suprarenal glands or kidneys. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
