A Further Study of Hemagglutinin Loss by Vaccinia Virus

Abstract
A study was carried out which provided support-ing evidence for a tentative conclusion reached in a previous study, namely, that the loss of hemagglutinin-producing ability by vaccinia virus during serial passage in the Ehrlich ascites tumor is a result of the action of a nonspecific inhibitor present in the plasma of the tumor. It was also demonstrated that hemagglutinin loss is not limited to the IHD strain of virus used in previous studies, but occurs with the Nelson and Levaditi strains.
