Abstract
The reasons for super solubility of calcium oxalate in urine were studied. The amount of oxalate required to produce a precipitate was considered as the index of solubility. Calcium oxalate was found to be supersoluble in urine as compared with water. The supersolubility could be adequately explained by the "salting-in" effect of the urinary electrolytes and the formation of two complex ions. The urinary colloids were not necessary to explain the observed solubility of calcium oxalate in urine. Keywords
