Abstract
The condensation of D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and hydroxypyruvate by transketolase to form D-xylulose 5-phosphate was investigated. Apparent Km values of 70 μM for D-glyceraldehyde phosphate and 33 mM for hydroxypyruvate were determined. Procedures for carrying out the reaction and isolating the product are described. Keywords
