Abstract
In collaboration with Professor Asher Tropp of the Department of Sociology at Surrey we are engaged in a study of the factors affecting entry into postgraduate education. We are trying to examine how students make career decisions, and have been particularly interested in the attitudes and position of women in physics since relatively few female graduates proceed to a higher degree and very few hold academic posts.
