Erythrocyte Transaminase Activity

Abstract
Estimation of erythrocyte transaminase activity in 134 subjects aged 18–94 years shows a negative correlation of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase with age due to a reduction of both coenzyme and apoenzyme in older subjects. Dietary supplementation with pyridoxine hydrochloride results in a considerable increase of both glutamic-pyruvic and glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase activity in older subjects.
