Abstract
The work undertaken by climatologists and atmospheric physicists during the 1980s has led to far more consistent and precise predictions of future climate change being made at the close of the decade than had been made at its start. Governments have responded by calling for more information and, in some cases, have taken steps to mitigate the effects of such a change. The hydrological community has not been idle and many projects have been launched to study the interaction between climate change, the hydrological regime and water resources. However, the move towards larger scale international projects with major hydrological components will make new and extensive demands on the hydrological community, to which it must respond. Keywords
