On uvby indices and empirical effective temperatures and bolometric corrections for B stars

Abstract
Empirical effective temperatures and bolometric corrections have been combined with uvby photometry to establish empirical $$({T}_{e},{c}_{0}),\,({T}_{e},[u-b]),\,(\text{BC},{c}_{0})$$ and (BC, [u–b]-relations for B stars. Reasons for preferring c0 to [u–b] as the photometric index are discussed. No significant dispersion is found in the data for luminosity classes III–V but stars of luminosity class Ia are found to depart markedly from the relations for classes III–V. The results are in good qualitative agreement with model stellar atmosphere predictions.
