Phenotypic Bioassay of Five Tribes of Orissa, India

Abstract
From the phenotype distributions of six genetic markers the mean coefficient of kinship in the five tribal popula tions of Orissa spanned over a rather small geographic area is estimated to be 2.613 × 10–3 which is by any standard very low signifying low affinity in spite of geographic proximity. However at a low level, of clustering value the five populations seem to form two clusters of two populations each, the fifth one being in the mid-way between the two clusters. However, these observations must have to be supplemented by historic evidences since these are based only on six out of a vast spectrum of genetic markers which, possibly, can substantially characterize any population structure.
