Active Immunization of Mice Against Candida albicans

Abstract
Mice were vaccinated by repeated subcutaneous inoculations of living, merthiolate-killed, or sonically-ruptured cells of C. albicans and were then challenged intravenously with 104 or 105 viable particles of a homologous strain. Although not all of the vaccinated mice survived challenge, a significant degree of resistance was conferred since fewer deaths occurred among vaccinated animals.
