Abstract
Readability formulae have been applied to a variety of materials with considerable beneficial effect for a number of years. Certainly, no readability formula claims to measure all of the factors involved in determining the difficulty of any reading matter. However, they have proved quite useful to writers and teachers who wish to provide students with materials which are suitable in terms of difficulty. These formulae have, therefore, been commonly applied to books in the curricular areas of reading, social studies, science, and literature. However, few attempts have been made to apply these formulae to mathematics materials, perhaps because it is difficult to apply them to these materials. Keywords
