Abstract
Giant-cell arteritis is a generalized disease with the temporal arteritis syndrome as only one of its many possible modes of clinical presentation. Five biopsy-proved cases are described which illustrate some of its less well-appreciated manifestations. Neurological symptoms are frequently combined with and preceded by involvement of other systems, and clinical manifestations in the latter are reviewed. Clinical evidence would appear to justify continued recommendation of steroids as a therapeutic measure in giant-cell arteritis in the absence of more specific treatment. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
