Abstract
Results of a field experiment, comprising a control, two micronutrient preparations, two phosphate fertilizers, singly and in combination, with and without sulphur, showed that only the application of sulphur was effective in preventing the occurrence of chlorosis. The application of 250 kg/ha sulphur increased the grain yield of peas 100%. The chlorotic leaves contained 40% more Fe, 10% more Al, and 31% more Si but 10, 17, 10, 11, and 25% less N, K, S, Mg, and B, respectively, than green leaves. Differences in grain yield and leaf composition (except for sulphur) were statistically significant. Micronutrient treatments did not affect the yield of the crop but had significant effect on leaf contents of N, Na, Fe, Mn, Mo, and Al. Phosphate fertilizers slightly increased the grain yield but had no effect on leaf composition.
