Abstract
The connection between wormholes and non-local actions is clarified. Baum-HawkingColeman type singularities correspond to runaway vacua of unbounded actions and can be avoided by appropriate sign flips and/or integration contour rotations. Sticking to saddle points, we find a new mechanism suppressing exponentially the cosmological constant without affecting appreciably other gravitational couplings. Keywords
