Marfan's Syndrome, Pregnancy, and the Cardiac Surgeon

Abstract
Marian's syndrome in a pregnant woman appears to be particularly hazardous because of the increased risk of aortic rupture. The first reported case report of replacement of the ascending aorta in a pregnant woman with a successful outcome for mother and fetus is presented. The literature is reviewed with regard to Marian's syndrome and pregnancy as well as to open heart surgery during pregnancy.
