Black hole punctures as initial data for general relativity
Abstract
We formulate the initial data problem for several black holes with arbitrary momenta and spins on a three space with punctures. With our choice of boundary conditions at the punctures, it is straightforward to obtain existence and uniqueness of solutions to the Hamiltonian constraint. When treated numerically, the method leads to a significant simplification over the conventional approach which is based on throats and an isometry condition. Keywords
