A Comparison of Three Automated Approaches to HPLC Optimization

Abstract
Three automated approaches to HPLC optimization were studied: a mixture design statistical technique, an adaptive intelligence algorithm, and a simplex algorithm. The methods and the chromatographic response functions (CRFs) are described. A reversed-phase separation of a six-component test mixture was optimized using each method. The mobile phase, analysis time, and separation quality for the optimized separations are compared.
