Computers and Technology: Aiding Tomorrow's Aged

Abstract
This paper investigates the future role of technology in meeting the needs of the elderly in such areas as transportation, medical care, housing, and protection from crime. Technological advances in solid state electronics allowing computers on a single chip of silicon, bringing down the price of mass memories and expediting cable TV and other means of communications, are explored for possible aids to the elderly. An increasing awareness of technological advances is advocated for gerontologists.
