Abstract
The epimerization rate constants and equilibrium compositions for the pheophytin a/a′ pair have been determined for the first time in ten organic solvents. The rate constant varies by five orders-of-magnitude with the nature of solvent. A free energy diagram for the epimer pair is constructed from temperature dependencies of the two parameters in N,N-dimethylformamide.Keywords
