Abstract
In a 1-year study of the competitive ability of Cynosurus criatatus, and its yield in simple mixtures, the species showed (1) a seedling survival potential of less than 50%; (2) poor competitive ability; (3) high mortality as a result of heavy defoliation. At a seedling rate of 5 lb/ac the inclusion of C. cristatus in a simple mixture: (1) reduced the incidence of Agrostis tenuis in the seedling year; (2) did not reduce the total yield.
