Excitation Emission Matrix Spectral Subtraction Fluorescence to Check Adulteration of Petrol by Kerosene

Abstract
The excitation emission matrix spectral subtraction (EEMSS) fluorescence technique was used to estimate adulteration of petrol by kerosene. A calibration graph obtained from the spectral volume with the use of EEMSS fluorescence is found to be efficacious in the whole range 0 to 90% v/v of kerosene. The method is simple, reliable, and superior in terms of both sensitivity (1% v/v) and accuracy compared to any other method. The method gives a good recovery for synthesized adulterated sample.
