Abstract
The belt of negative isostatic gravity anomalies which passes through the North Island from Cook Strait to East Cape terminates in a circular low with a minimum value of −130 mgal, to the north of East Cape. Any connection with the negative anomaly of the Kermadec Trench can only be via a saddle over which isostatic anomalies are everywhere less negative than − 25 mgal. Keywords
