Abstract
An erbium-doped fibre amplifier with a high gain coefficient at 1.6 µm is constructed employing a dual pumping scheme. The amplifier is successfully applied to an OTDR, producing output optical pulses characterised by a peak power of 476 mW for a duration of 1 µs.Keywords
