Abstract

Benzophenone, Methylene Blue, and Rose Bengal have been shown to photosensitise the oxidation of a number of amines, and from product studies it is concluded that the reactions occur by abstraction of hydrogen from the amines by the excited sensitiser, followed by reaction of the amine radicals with oxygen.
