Abstract
The effect of 1 hr. of ether anesthesia upon the serum Na, the serum Cl, the blood lactate, and the blood CO2 capacity of dogs was studied. One hr. of etherization produces no significant change in the serum Na and serum Cl csoncns. The decrease in CO2 capacity (4.8 to 6.6 mM.) present at the end of 1 hr. of ether adm. can be accounted for largely by the increase in blood lactate conc. (4.5 to 6.2 mM.). After ether anesthesia the return of the lactate and the CO2 capacity to the control values occurs in about 11/2 hrs. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
