Abstract
A series of neurological tests (keeping eyes closed, protruding tongue with patient blindfolded and not, fixation of gaze in lateral visual fields, keeping mouth open, fixation of examiner''s nose during confrontation testing of visual fields, head turning during sensory testing, squeezing dynamometer, and saying "Ah") were standardized in 74 control individuals. The battery was then given to 101 brain-damaged patients. The results show that motor impersistence of a pathological degree is associated with advancing age, mental impairment, and disorientation for time, place, and person. It occurred more frequently in patients with either bilateral or right hemispheric lesions than in those with lesions of the left hemisphere. Keywords
