Abstract
NZB [New Zealand black] mice treated with interferon from birth and for over 1 yr, display some characteristics of an autoimmune disease similar to human systemic lupus erythematosus, hemolytic anemia and sjogren''s syndrome. In treated animals mortality is higher than in controls. Death occurs 3-6 mo. before that of mice injected with a mock preparation.
