Abstract
Cahn’s model for a binary liquid mixture in contact with an external wall is applied to the liquid–vapor interface. The concentration profile, the adsorption, and the surface tension are calculated using the regular solution free energy function for solutions of near critical composition and dilute solutions, and using a nonclassical free energy function for critical composition solutions. The calculation is in good agreement with recent measurements of the adsorption of the cyclohexane–aniline system. Keywords
